Drug & Alcohol Testing

Workers on mine site.jpg

Every worker has a right to work in a workplace free from risks to physical and psychological safety and go home safe and well each day.

As a Business owner or Manager, you have a duty of care under Work Health and Safety Legislation to ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, the health, safety and well-being of workers and others who may be impacted by your work. This includes taking reasonable steps to ensure workers are not impaired by alcohol or other drugs.

With approximately 15% of workplace injuries worldwide attributed to drug and alcohol use, a robust workplace Drug & Alcohol Management Program is a must for all Australian Businesses; that's where we come in.

When you partner with Insync Drug and Alcohol testing services, we are not just another provider who comes in, conducts the tests and then leaves. We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach because we know that every business is different, so we take the time to get to know you, your businesses, your challenges and what you want to achieve and tailor our services to meet your needs.

Some examples of our services include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing (or reviewing) your workplace Drug & Alcohol program (including policies, procedures,  training, guides, program implementation and communication tools and support offered )

  • Workplace Drug Testing (Random, Post-Incident, Show Cause, Pre-Employment)

  • Workplace Alchohol Testing (Random, Post-Incident, Show Cause, Pre-Employment)

  • Laboratory Confirmation

  • Workplace training (face-to-face and online)

Education, awareness, and communication delivered in a way that is easy for your people to understand is an essential part of any Workplace Drug & Alcohol Management Program. At Insync Drug and Alcohol Testing, we are experts in the field. Through our sister company, Insync Workplace Solutions, we have helped hundreds of clients over the past 12 years to develop and implement their Drug & Alcohol Management Programs.

How we can help you

At Insync Drug & Alcohol Testing, we tailor our programs to meet your needs. Types of testing we can do include the following:

NOTE: Testing programs can consist of Alcohol, Drug or Both.

Random

Random Testing Programs involve randomly testing a selected group of workers present on your site on that day.

Show Cause/ Reasonable Suspicion

This is where we test one or more workers when there is cause for concern or reasonable suspicion has been raised to believe that they may be impaired by alcohol or drugs.

Return-to-work testing

Testing a worker who has previously returned a positive test result and is required to return a negative test result before being allowed to return to the work site or resume normal duties

Post Incident

This involves testings workers after an incident (including a near miss) has occurred at the workplace

Pre-employment / Induction

This involves testing workers before they commence employment or on their first day as part of the induction process

Blanket Testing

Blanket Testing is where we test all workers on site.

Alcolizer LE5 Alcohol Tester: Precision and Flexibility in Drug & Alcohol Testing.

The Alcolizer LE5 is a state-of-the-art testing device equipped with a highly responsive electrochemical fuel cell, ensuring fast and accurate results. To maintain this accuracy, the device is calibrated every 12 months. It offers two non-invasive testing modes to suit diverse workplace needs and Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs:

Direct Testing Mode: Utilises an individually sealed, recyclable plastic tube. The individual being tested provides a breath sample by blowing into the tube attached to the device. In cases of a positive result, a 15-minute wait is required to eliminate any 'mouth alcohol,' followed by a second direct breath test. The result of this second test is considered the final reading.

Passive Testing Mode: Requires the individual to speak into the device, typically while counting from 1 to 10. This method quickly screens for the presence of alcohol. If alcohol is detected, a follow-up test using the direct method is conducted.

These versatile testing options of the Alcolizer LE5 make it an ideal choice for comprehensive and accurate Drug and Alcohol Testing in any workplace setting, which is why we use this device at Insync Drug and Alcohol Testing.

Benefits of Oral Fluid Drug Testing

Oral fluid drug testing is a quick, easy, and efficient method of drug testing which will save your company time and money getting your team back on the job quicker.

With Oral fluid testing, you are testing your team's fitness for work at that point in time, not looking back into the lifestyle and activities they have undertaken weeks prior.

Urine Drug Testing - SureStep Drug Screen Cup

While we highly recommend the oral fluid method of drug testing, we also offer urine drug screen testing as an alternative.

The SureStep™ Urine Test with integrated E-Z Split Key provides accurate and rapid results for six key drugs:

  • Amphetamine

  • Morphine

  • Methamphetamine

  • Cocaine

  • Cannabis

  • Benzodiazepines.

  • Opioids

Urine testing can detect drugs in the subject's system up to three weeks prior to testing. It may not mean that a positive test is not a true reflection of the person's fitness for work on the day of the testing, which is why most employers prefer to use the oral fluid testing method.

Whilst the actual test only takes approximately 5 minutes to complete, additional time is required to prepare the testing location to ensure privacy and also eliminate the risk of samples being contaminated.
